Origin Of The Moniker

I have a friend who has adorable 3 year old twins (a boy & a girl) affectionately known as the "dynamic duo." I love it when she tells her stories of the "dynamic duo." When my older children were actively showing livestock with us, obviously, we all didn't share the same last name but we all put in the same effort so I started calling us "Team Royer." As most of you know, it takes a team effort to produce a winning program. For the 6 years we were "Team Royer" we accumulated a very successful string of victories! (sorry I digressed~ that is common problem of mine) So back to exactly how the girls became known as "The Petites." One of my all time favorite books is Little Altars Everywhere by Rebecca Wells. It is the first in a 3 book series following the lives of 4 eccentric southern women, known as the Ya Ya's, and their children affectionately called the Petite Ya Ya's. I don't know exactly what it is but I basically worship at the altar of eccentric southern women. Steel Magnolias is probably my most favorite movie of all time. There is just something about strong willed southern woman! If I believed in reincarnation I would want to come back as a Louisiana debutante. County fair queen of Chinquapin Parish (if there even is such a thing!) I'd want Truvy to do my hair.(Not Annelle though, her work tends to get a little poofy when she's nervous.) Ouiser Boudreaux and Ms. Clairee to be my god mother's.Oops, again, I digress. I tell you, it's a quirk of mine that is all to familiar. Sorry.
So here it is, drum roll PLEASE!!! The story of how Hunter Grace and Sophia Caroline became known as "The Petites." One Sunday morning my mom called and invited us down for breakfast. We were running late, as usual, and she called to see where we were. When I answered the phone, she exclaimed "We are waiting for you and "the petites" to get here." Thus the nickname was born and ever since that spring morning the girls have been known as "The Petites." If you knew them you'd think it was the perfect moniker too! Tata for now.
